I forgot to post this in July, but this was the haul that went to Goodwill then:

And today (plus some other trinkets I forgot to include in the photo):

I don’t have a tallied breakdown this time, and am going to wait until the very end to tally since I’m so close now, less than a third of the year left. I was very behind 4 months ago, but am all caught up as of today. This was mostly due to moving.
This project was supposed to make moving easier, not the other way around. But the end result is still me getting rid of things I don’t use or need anymore, and that’s a good thing.

Between going on vacation and other things happening in my life, I’m now 2 months behind on my less365 project. I’ve decided that I’m going to drop the drawing part and just post photos. I’ve renamed this Tumblr from staceyinsketches to less365in2012, and will be using chasethestars as my personal blog again.
26 things donated, 0 things sold, 27 things regifted, 1 thing repurposed, and 5 things thrown away for a total of 59 less things in January and February. 5 of these were things I had an emotional attachment to, but have learned to let go of.

These items were dropped off to Goodwill and The San Francisco Public Library yesterday.

All but 8 of the 27 things that were regifted went to my friend’s preteen daughter. That either says something about my taste or shows how long I’ve kept things from when I was around her age.
A couple of weeks ago, @elhector and I were discussing how we’re held down by our possessions, our possessions posses us.
I used to have a laptop and a backpack full of clothes, always ready to leave. Over the years, I’ve settled down and accumulated a lot of things: things I used once but kept in case I needed it again but still haven’t used, things that were gifts that I felt bad getting rid of, things that held sentimental value but were really just collecting dust.
I have too many things. In my tiny apartment.
Inspired by an old co-worker, I am going to donate, sell, regift, repurpose, or throw away one thing every day for the rest of this year.
In an effort to get back into the habit of drawing as well, I am also going to try to commit to sketching each item and posting it here, under the tag less365.
